The Science Park

Work has begun on cleaning up and repairing signs at the Department's rock interpretation trail at the USM Science Park. The Park received major damage from Hurricane Katrina and department volunteers are working to restore the signs, remove fallen trees, and clear back the undergrowth. Please contact Lin Pope is you would like to volunteer to help along with us.

Awards

For 2009, the College of Science and Technology awarded Geography Professor, Greg Carter the College's Outstanding Researcher of the Year; Jason Jones (Geography major) received the Outstanding Senior Award; Shannon Davis received the Outstanding Staff Award, and Skeeter Dixon (Department Chair) received the Outstanding Service Award. Congratulations to all as the department.

At the 2008 Meeting of the Southeastern Division of the Association of American Geographers, Professor Emeritus Jess McKee received the SEDAAG Lifetime Achievement Award.
